300 years of history: noblewoman Anna, a farmhouse turned four-star hotel and now you, right in the heart of East Tyrol.
Why you should rent a historic farmhouse in East Tyrol
1750
The house at the entrance to the Winklertal valley
The Bishop of Brixen sends a capable young man to Untertilliach. His task is to mine saltpetre, which was needed for gunpowder at the time. He keeps his word and builds the Salitererhaus.
1794
Hard work and nobility
Anna von Laßnig, the famous “Saliterer-Nanne”, is born. The young man from back then was Anna’s grandfather, and a nobleman to boot. Yet it is the family’s hard work and craftsmanship that shape the house’s name for generations.
1817
At the Litterer
Anna falls in love with Peter Klammerer. The two marry and the Salitererhaus takes on the house name “Litterer”. In 1822, their first son is born and the farm remains in the family.
1870
Dynamite changes the world
Black powder falls out of fashion. Dynamite has arrived. Saltpetre loses its importance and the Saliterer trade gradually disappears from East Tyrol too.
1965
Devastating floods
A catastrophic flood causes severe damage throughout the Lesachtal valley. The effects can also be seen here in Untertilliach: the water sweeps away the last remains of the old Saliterer hut. Thankfully, the farmhouse itself is spared.
1998
From farmhouse to hotel
On 9 August, Peter and Katharina Ruprecht open the Landhotel Tilliacher Hof. “Saliterer-Nanne” would surely have liked that: guests from all over the world now stay here at the entrance to the Winklertal valley.

That one particular idea
The Tilliacher Hof changes hands. For a while, the house continues as a star-rated hotel. But we can feel that this place is meant for something else. So it is given the freedom to evolve into a self-catering retreat for people who love the mountains, the good life and good company just as much as we do.
A place to long for. A place that feels like home.
“Rent a historic farmhouse in East Tyrol.” Perhaps it was a simple search like this that led you to Tilliach. We believe our holiday home finds its people. And vice versa. It has been that way for almost 300 years. People like you find both the little joys and the great loves of life here. Friends become your favourite people. Colleagues become a team. Make our autarc retreat what it has always been: a place made to be shared.
